La Sportiva
SEO PERFORMANCE CASE STUDY
Challenge:
La Sportiva, a leading brand in footwear for mountaineering, climbing, hiking, and skiing, embarked on a significant digital transformation in 2016. As part of this, the eCommerce and Marketing teams decided to migrate their CMS and redesign the website to accelerate eCommerce growth.
Solution:
Our SEO strategy was built on the following pillars:
-
CMS Migration: We defined essential CMS requirements, created a new URL structure, optimized website architecture, and designed templates based on Google and UX best practices. We also supported the IT team with technical SEO implementations.
-
On-Page Content: Conducted keyword analysis in four languages, and based on the results, we established content guidelines for the marketing team to optimize on-page content.
-
Authority Building: While La Sportiva had brand recognition in some markets, it lacked sufficient domain authority. We launched an off-page PR campaign to boost link authority and overall SEO strength.
Scope:
- Regions: DACH, Italy, France, Spain
- Languages: 4
- Countries: 6
Results:
We had the unique opportunity to redesign La Sportiva’s website from the ground up, integrating SEO, Google, and UX best practices from the start. Our team worked closely with the in-house IT team to ensure that the CMS would support seamless SEO optimizations later on.
We also incorporated UX playbooks and Google’s Quality Rater guidelines into the design templates, which allowed us to optimize on-page content and improve the conversion rate post-relaunch. Furthermore, we addressed technical SEO issues and introduced the “Filter Category” functionality, enabling better segmentation and improved rankings and organic traffic.
Following the website relaunch, organic traffic increased by +126%. Over the first five years of the project, organic traffic grew by more than +350% year-over-year.
